About Us

Founded in 2002 by two neuroscientists intent on raising the bar in training and educational software, Caspian Learning sought to combine the state-of-the-art in learning sciences with the high levels of engagement that 3D gaming engines offered. Unwilling to simply bolt some educational features onto an existing game engine, Caspian developed a custom platform that integrated educational components into a 3D simulation and game engine.

And to make the games and simulations developed available to as wide an audience as possible, Caspian made it possible to play Thinking Worlds applications over the Internet through standard Web-browsers using the industry-standard plug-ins from Adobe.

Seven years later, after developing dozens of learning simulations and games for customers in a wide range of markets, our the Thinking Worlds platform was in its third generation. Our development teams were regularly developing 3D immersive training solutions in a fraction of industry standard timelines and costs. We found that, because of the speed in which we are able to prototype and produce solutions for our customers, we were able to work with them in new ways – to engage them, integrate their feedback, and meet their needs in ways that simply aren’t possible with standard tools.

So we decided to make our development platform, Thinking Worlds, commercially available to everybody.

Thinking Worlds 3.0 was launched in April, 2009 and before the year was out it had already won 2 awards for being the most innovative learning simulation authoring tool available.  Our customers call it “disruptive” and “ground-breaking.”

Today we partner with customers to bring them the benefits of the incredibly fast development of engaging 3D learning simulations made possible with Thinking Worlds, combined with our experience and know-how.

Caspian’s customers include organisations that purchase Thinking Worlds to develop simulations and games completely on their own, and others who work more closely with our teams of instructional and game designers – from simply drawing on our expertise, asking us to develop the 3D art for a project, to having us manage a project completely from design concept to deployment.

Our commitment to raising the bar in training and educational software continues. We are constantly refining our design and development best practices. The Thinking Worlds development team updates the platform 3 times a year to keep up with our customers’ feedback and the requests of our internal development teams. We continue to be driven to offer our partners and customers the most value and the highest return on their investment in learning and training possible.
